She retired from cooking at the Chuck Wagon Cafe in Belvidere in the mid 1990’s. They continued to reside in Belvidere until moving into the Gateway Apartments in September 2004.

So many memories growing up.. the fondest is going to Rapid City in a snowstorm to go shopping while dad was deer hunting. She told Karen to just go around the jack-knifed trailer as we could make it (lots of perseverance). We ended up having a fun day. Her cooking, especially her pies were delicious. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. Bob, Jodi, & Ryan

I am so sorry for your loss. Irene will be remembered by all of us who were in Belvidere School during her tenure there. It was my FIRST taste of chili, and it was so good! I loved her bread and her chili . . . and the frothy milk machine! And then in later years when she cooked at the Chuck Wagon, her sour cream raisin pie. Thanks for sharing your Mom's cooking w/ the rest of Jackson County! May God be especially close to you at this time. In Christ, Beryl (Addison) Geer
