Leslie "Les" Rennerof Wall, South Dakota, died on Saturday, June 22, 2002

Leslie E. Renner was born January 17, 1915 at Wall, South Dakota, the son of James and Ada (Kellem) Renner.
He grew up on the family farm north of Wall, South Dakota and spent his entire life involved in the operation of the farm. He attended Lake Flatt grade school and Wall High School.
Leslie was united in marriage to Eva D. Pierce on October 14, 1937 at Rapid City, South Dakota.
They made their home in Wall and in 1939 they purchased a farm north of Wall. When World War II broke out they moved to Provo, South Dakota where Leslie worked at the Igloo Army Depot and Eva worked at the Provo Post Office.
They moved back to the farm in the early 1940’s. They continued to operated the farm until they semi-retired in the late 1960’s when they would spend the winter months in San Carlos, Mexico, and return to the farm in the summer. In 1989 they moved to Westhills Village Apartments in Rapid City, South Dakota because of Eva’s failing health.
His wife Eva preceded him in death on June 19, 1999.
Leslie continued to reside at Westhills until the time of his death.
Leslie and Eva were both avid hunters and fishermen and hunted and fished in Alaska, Canada, Wyoming, Mexico, and South Dakota. They both loved the outdoors and enjoyed traveling extensively throughout the United States.
Leslie was a member of the Wall Methodist Church and the Pennington County Farm Bureau.
Grateful for having shared his life is one son, Rodney Renner and his wife Cheryl of Wall; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, Dr. Gail and Steve Bernard and their daughters Abigail and Emma; Gretchen and Justin Martz and their sons Dylan and Gavin all of Rapid City, South Dakota; Neil and Amy Renner and daughter Ada of Cape Cod, Massachusetts, and Lindsey Renner of Wall; two step-grandsons, Shaun Johnson of Pierre, South Dakota; and Darren and his wife Heather Johnson of Rapid City, South Dakota; one brother Earle Renner and his wife Polly of Carterville, Illinois; a brother in-law Jerry Cosgrove of Breckinridge, Colorado; five sisters-in-law, Gloria Cosgrove of Rapid City, Millie Johnson and her husband Ralph and Sybil Cunningham and her husband John all of Rockford, Illinois, Joan Wolfe and her husband Russ of Canon City, Colorado, and Marjorie Dee Waard of Tucson, Arizona; and a host of other relatives and friends.
In addition to his wife Eva, Leslie was preceded in death by a daughter Cheryl Renner; his parents; a sister Vivian Renner; and two brothers Howard and Kenneth Renner.
Visitation was held 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 24, 2002 at the Rush Funeral Chapel in Wall and one hour preceding the services at the church.
Funeral services were 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 25, at the United Methodist Church in Wall, with Pastor Jim Cissell officiating.
Interment was in the Wall Cemetery.
A memorial is established.
