Linton G. Schnee

of Kadoka, South Dakota, died on Wednesday, February 17, 1999
at the Kadoka Care Center in Kadoka at the age of 90

Linton George Schnee was born July 5, 1908, on his parents' homestead six miles northwest of Kadoka, South Dakota, the son of Robert and Maggie (Illingworth) Schnee.

He grew up on the homestead and received his education in the Franklin School District.

As a young man he worked on the family homestead.

He was united in marriage to Clara Marie Gerber on March 12, 1938, in Madison, South Dakota, at the Presbyterian Manse by Reverend Tinklinberg.

They made their home on the homestead, which they continued to operate until November 6, 1969, when they retired and moved into Kadoka.

After his wife's death on April 5, 1998, Linton continued to reside in his home in Kadoka until health reasons forced him into the Kadoka Nursing Home on July 21, 1998.

Linton was a member of the Kadoka Presbyterian Church.  He had served 15 years on the Franklin School Board; was Kadoka Township Clerk for 26 years; and was active with the Farmers Union.  He and Marie were active in 4-H and with the Boy Scouts when their two sons were growing up.

Grateful for having shared his life are his two sons and their spouses, Rodney and Sharon Schnee of Kadoka and Dale and Susan Schnee of Atwood, Colorado; two grandsons, Nathaniel Jared and Heath Brandon Schnee; five step-grandchildren, Jennifer, Larry, Jr., and Richard; and Jennifer and Brittany; one brother and his wife, Harold and Mary Schnee of Kadoka; and a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to his wife, Clara Marie Schnee, he was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Milo Alton Schnee; and a sister, Ruth Solberg.

A memorial is established.
