Sena K. Olesen was born April 11, 1914, on Little Priaire Dog Creek, Haakon County, South Dakota. She married Anker L. Olesen on December 21, 1940, in Broadus, Montana. They farmed near Midland on the family homestead.
Sena taught in rural Haakon and Stanley County schools for 30 years. She received an associate's degree in elementary education from Black Hills State Teachers College.
She was a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, a member of the Midland Trinity Lutheran Church, the Stanley County Historical Society and the Midland Senior Citizens Center.
She is survived by a daughter Kathryn J. Nordstrom (Husband Rex T. Unterbrunner) of Yankton, South Dakota; a son Andrew H. Olesen (wife Pat Olesen) of Rockford, Illinois; a daughter Constance L. Selleck (husband David Selleck) of Portland, Oregon; a brother Henry Kuhlmann of Rancho Polo Verdes, California; and six grandchildren, Cindy Nordstrom, Sherry Nordstrom, Tony Olesen, Michelle Olesen, Todd Unterbrunner and Jessica Unterbrunner.
Sena was preceded in death by her husband, Anker, daughter Barbara, sister Ella, and parents, Jacob and Ida Kuhlmann.
