Reed T. Drury

of Philip, South Dakota, died on Tuesday, September 3, 1996
at the Philip Nursing Home in Philip at the age of 72

Reed T. Drury was born December 20, 1923, at Geddes, South Dakota, to Dennes and Nettie (Bolster) Drury.

As a child he moved with his parents to Kadoka, South Dakota, where he grew up and graduated from Kadoka High School.

As a young man he moved to Seattle, Washington, where he worked as a meat cutter for two years before returning to Kadoka.

Reed was united in marriage to Margaret J. "Peggy" O'Neal on May 22, 1948, at Pierre, South Dakota, in 1949.

While in Philip, Reed worked for Dorothy Brothers Garage, Wampler Lumber Company, and then at the Philip School System until his retirement in 1987.

Reed was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church; the Philip Knights of Columbus Council #2679; and was a long time member of the Philip Volunteer Fire Department.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Peggy Drury of Philip; his two sons and their wives, Neal and Becky Drury of Wall, and Kenneth and Debra Drury of Sturgis; two daughters and their husbands, Barb and Raymond Clements Jr. of Buffalo Gap, South Dakota, and Penny and Bill Stahl of Rapid City; 11 grandchildren: Jared Lobdell, Tristan Clements, Ryan Stahl, Eric Stahl, Nicholas Reed Drury, Nathan Drury, Neal Drury, Michael Grant, Clint Grant, Samantha Drury, and Jessie Drury; five great-grandchildren: Blake Reed Lobdell, Heather Stevens, Sarah Stevens, J'Nai Lobdell, and Allison Stahl; a sister, Olive Parke of Kadoka; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Reed was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Vic and Bud Drury; and three sisters, Mary Jane Barrett, Alice Ferguson, and Frances Yates.

A memorial is established.
