Stanley R. Sampson

of Interior, South Dakota, died on Friday, August 2, 1996
at the Hans P. Peterson Memorial Hospital in Philip at the age of 82

Stanley R. Sampson was born March 6, 1914 at Standford, South Dakota to Carl John (CJ) and Rose (Rada) Sampson.

He grew up on a ranch in the Standford and Midland area and received his education at the Loyality Rural School in that community.  As a young man he operated a trucking business in the Midland area.

Stanley was untied in marriage to Arlene Joy on May 26, 1937 at Rapid City, South Dakota.  They made their home on a ranch, which they operated, west of Interior all their married life.

Stanley also did trucking in the Interior area for awhile and later was the manager of the grain elevator in Interior for many years.  After retiring from the elevator business he returned full time to ranching and continued until the time of his death.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Arlene, on March 30, 1984.

Besides being a husband, dad, and grandpa, Stanley was a dear friend, mentor and companion to his family.  His subtle, caring and compassionate ways and kind heart were always appreciated and will be sorely missed by all.

Grateful for having shared his life are his two sons, and their wives, Wayne and Margaret Sampson and Jerry and Patricia Sampson all of Interior; five grandchildren: Shannon, Ann, TK, Julie and Mike; one brother, Vern Sampson of Midland; three sisters: Grace McKillip of Murdo; Blanch Dolezal of Kadoka; Dorothy Blom of Pierre, and a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to his wife, Arlene, he was preceded in death by his parents.
