Curtis S. Anderson

of Midland, South Dakota, died on Wednesday, April 19, 1995
at the Ft. Meade VA Medical Center in Ft. Meade at the age of 79

Curtis S. Anderson was born November 11, 1915, at Ottumwa, South Dakota, to William and Olive (Seward) Anderson.

He grew up in Haakon County near Midland and received his formal education in Haakon County rural schools.  As a young man he worked as a ranch hand and wrangler in the western United States.  Later he worked in the saw mills in Oregon.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, in the European Theatre.  He landed on Omaha Beach and traveled through France, Germany and was in Austria when the war ended.

After his discharge he returned to the Midland area where he worked on various ranches.  Later he worked as a heavy equipment operator building earth dams.

Curtis was united in marriage to Thelma Martin on July 23, 1957, at Martin, South Dakota.

They made their home in Midland and ranched west of Midland along the Bad River.  In 1967 the family moved to a farm in northern Minnesota, which they operated until 1972 when they returned to Midland.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Thelma Anderson of Midland; two daughters, Deanna Peters of Midland and Faye Anderson and her husband, Doug, of Salt Lake City, Utah; two grandchildren, Kyle Anderson and December Anderson, both of Midland; one brother, Kenneth Anderson of Midland; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Maurice Anderson.
