at the Rapid City Regional Hospital in Rapid City at the age of 93

Rose L. Glanzman, daughter of Fredrick and Bertha (Liechti) Glanzman, was born March 14, 1895, at Maple River, Iowa.

As a child she moved with her family to Wisconsin for a short time before moving back to the Maple River area.  In 1910 they moved to a farm west of Platte, South Dakota.  She grew up in the Platte area.

Rose was united in marriage to William "Bill" Gropper on September 8, 1918, at Lake Andes, South Dakota.  They farmed ten miles west of Platte.  Their four children were born in the Platte area.

In 1926 they moved to a farm in Washabaugh County about 30 miles south of Kadoka, in an area which later became known as Long Valley, South Dakota.

In 1938 they moved to a farm-ranch 1/2 mile south of Long Valley.

Her husband, Bill, preceded her in death on January 4, 1966, after a long illness.  Rose continued to live on the farm-ranch until August 1987 when she moved into the Kadoka Care Center.

Rose was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church of Long Valley, the Ladies Aid of the church, and the Long Valley Birthday Club.

Grateful for having shared her life are her two sons, Clayton Gropper of Long Valley, and Lawrence Gropper of Spearfish, South Dakota; two daughters, Dolores (Mrs. Dwight) Sharp of Long Valley, and Wanda (Mrs. Francis) Guptill of Interior; 17 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; one brother, Walter Glanzman of Medford, Oregon; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
