LaVonne M. Smithof Wall, South Dakota, died on Sunday, December 6, 1987
|
LaVonne M. Hoefs, daughter of Edward and Clara (Sether) Hoefs, was born September 8, 1921, at Cottonwood, South Dakota.
She grew up and graduated from Cottonwood High School. Then she moved with her family to Wall, South Dakota
LaVonne was united in marriage to C.K. "Kenny" Smith on June 29, 1941, at Rapid City, South Dakota. They made their home in Glendale, California, until 1950 when they moved back to Wall. They purachsed the Jack and Jill Grocery Store in Wall and they operated the store until selling in 1968.
Since 1968 LaVonne has been employed at the Wall Drug Store.
LaVonne attended the United Methodist Church and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, both in Wall.
Grateful of having shared her life are her daughter, Mrs. Harlan (Lori) Walker; her two grandchildren, Chad and Haley Walker; her brother and his wife, Elry and Esther Hoefs; one nieces, Mrs. Steve (Debra) Deal, all of Wall; and a host of other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, C.K. "Kenny", she was preceded in death by her parents; her step-father, Chet Percy; and two half-sisters, Juanita Sether and Wanda Bartlett.
