Marvin B. Paulsen

of Wall, South Dakota, died on Friday, May 1, 1987
at his home in Wall at the age of 58

Marvin B. Paulsen was born December 2, 1928, at new Underwood, South Dakota, to Ben and Martha (Koopman) Paulsen.  He attended grade school at the Simon School near Wicksville and graduated from New Underwood High School in 1946.

After high school, he worked for neighboring farmers.  He then served in the U.S. Army in Korea and was discharged in 1952.  Later, he graduated from mechanical school at Springfield Vocational School and worked as a mechanic at Gorman Implement Company in Kadoka.

He was united in marriage to Charlotte R. James on August 29, 1954, at Cottonwood, South Dakota.  They had three children.

Marvin was employed by Roy Johnson Trucking Company of Quinn and later he worked at Birdsail Sand and Gravel at Wasta.  He then worked for the South Dakota Highway Department for 21 years until retiring in April 1986.  After retirement he worked on small motors in his personal shop until his death.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Wall and a 35-year member of the American Legion Post #246 of Wall.

Survivors include three sons, Philip of Yankton, South Dakota, Russell of Pasadena, California, and Lowell of Kearney, Nebraska; his mother, Martha Paulsen of Wall; two brothers, Delmer Paulsen of Quinn, and Don Paulsen of Wall; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father.

A memorial has been established.
