Grace Smith was born on June 28, 1916, on a farm near Mission Hill, South Dakota to Peter and Iva (Harter) Smith. At the age of three her mother passed away and Grace moved to Omaha, Nebraska where she lived with her Aunt Lydia Madison. Grace received her education and grew up in Omaha.
She was united in marriage to Kenneth John Renner on September 18, 1934, at Lead, South Dakota. They lived their married life in the Wall area and they were farming north of Wall when Kenneth died in 1955.
After his death Grace moved into Wall. She was united in marriage to E.W. "Bill" Pippert on February 21, 1957 at Rapid City. They farmed all their married life north of Quinn.
Survivors include her husband, Bill Pippert of Quinn; five sons, Merle Renner of San Barber, California, Bruce Renner of Rapid City, Kenneth Renner of Wall, Scott Pippert of Quinn, and Norman "Bud" Renner of Longview, Washington; nine grandchildren; two half-sisters, Florence Marcus of Eugene, Oregon, and Ruth Holland of Cathlamet, Washington; three half-brothers, Tom Smith of Olympia, Washington, Robert Smith of Roseberg, Washington, and Jack Smith of Oregon; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Kenneth Renner; one daughter, Jean Renner; one grandson, Harold Renner; and her parents.
