The Beckwiths were not only our closest neighbor several miles down the trail in the Badlands, Alice also was Nurse & Dr on several occasions prior to our moving to town for school. During the Blizzard of January '49 we were all isolated under deep snowdrifts for several weeks. Dad's journal states I fell ill, and carried a fever with temp of 105. Francis Young delivered by plane (landed in the pasture) some medicine from Dr. Sundet that Alice put down me until we could finally make it to Kadoka on Feb 11th. Memories of Alice will continue to echo down thru the Badlands.....God Bless

Dear Larry, Mary, & Family:  I am so sorry for your loss.  I remember Alice from when she worked in Kadoka.  May God be especially close to you during this difficult time.  In Christ, Beryl (Addison) Geer

Dear Beckwith Families,
So sorry to hear about your Mom.  We got to really know her when all our girls were born at the Kadoka Hospital.  Back then you stayed in for a week so by then we knew each other pretty good. She brightened a room whenever she entered it. We would have such a good time. When all our babies were girls she assured us that the boys would show up too soon and they did.
She was a dear lady.  May the Lord strengthen you at this sad time of loss.  You are all in our prayers. Love, Jim and Marjorie

I got the pleasure of meeting Alice for the first time when she was in the hospital a short while ago. What a delightful lady! That wonderful wit shown through, even though she was as sick as she was, those beautiful blue eyes would twinkle and we shared much laughter together. I am envious of those who knew her better and longer, but I'm thankful for the short time I had. May God bless you, her dear family, with His comfort during this sad time.
