Arlene Joyce Albin, age 66, of Wall, died Friday, March 23, 2007, at the Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Arlene Joyce Harmdierks was born December 3, 1940, in Lane, South Dakota, the daughter of George and Lena (Schroeder) Harmdierks.  She grew up on her grandparents’ homestead near Lane, South Dakota, where she attended school, graduating from Lane High School in 1958. As a young girl she moved to Wall, South Dakota, where she worked at the Wall Café, Sportsman Liquor, and the Cactus Café.

Arlene was united in marriage to Robert Albin on September 25, 1965, in Rapid City, South Dakota. They made their home in Wall all their married life. She continued to work at the Cactus Café until health reasons forced her retirement in the early 1990’s.

AArlene was baptized at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lane on February 2, 1941 and later confirmed in that church. She transferred to First Lutheran Church in Wall on March 2, 1966. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, and working crossword puzzles.

Grateful for having shared her life include her husband Robert Albin of Wall; two sisters Darlene Berg of Gresham, Oregon, and Ruby Harper and her husband Larry of Woonsocket, South Dakota; five brothers Alvin Harmdierks and his wife Deb of Wolsey, South Dakota, Herman Harmdierks of Wessington Springs, Edwin Harmdierks and his wife Jean of Watertown, Orville Harmdierks and his wife Vickie of Wessington Springs, and Jerry Harmdierks of Wall; a half-sister Mildred Abrahamson of Denver, Colorado; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Arlene was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers Harry and George Harmdierks; four sisters Helen Soares, Margaret Perkins, Lila Fredrichson, and Violet Steichen; and a half-brother John Hamdierks.

Memorial services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 30, at the First Lutheran Church in Wall, with Pastor Monty Dell officiating.

Interment will follow at the Wall Cemetery.

A memorial is established.

Arrangements are with the Rush Funeral Chapel of Wall.
