Doreen D. Henderson was born May 10, 1932, in Hettinger, North Dakota, the daughter of Basil and Lessi (Eggen) Henderson.

The family lived in Lodgepole, North Dakota, Bison, South Dakota, Spearfish, and Rapid City, before moving to Philip in August 1939. She grew up in Philip and graduated from Philip High School in 1950.

Doreen was united in marriage to Robert Lee Wampler in 1950. To this union were born two sons, Darrell and Richard.

They made their home in Philip where Doreen worked for her father in the Henderson Insurance Company. In 1975, she moved to Rapid City. She was employed as a secretary for Duhamel Broadcasting for the last twenty-five years.

Dareen was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Rapid City.

Doreen died Saturday morning, August 10, 2002 at the Meadowbrook Manor in Rapid City, SD.

Grateful for having shared her life are two sons, Richard Lee "Dick" Wampler and his wife Margaret of Carbondale, Colorado, and Darrell Ray "Buck" Wampler of Brandon, South Dakota; four grandchildren Jacob, Annie Rose, Michael, and Matthew; and one brother Vincent "Mick" Henderson and his wife Shirley of Rapid City, South Dakota.

Doreen was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 12, at the Rush Funeral Home in Philip, and one hour preceding the services at the church.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 13, at the First Lutheran Church in Philip, with Pastor Paul Bly officiating.

Interment will be in the Masonic Cemetery in Philip.

A memorial is established.
