She moved with her family to Washabaugh County in 1926 and grew up in the community and attended Garner School. On April 9th, 1939 she was united in marriage to Beuford Briggs at Rapid City, South Dakota. This union was blessed with five children. They made their home in Kadoka until 1942 then moving to Coalings, California. In 1944, they returned to Kadoka where they raised their children. Dorothy was a member of the Kadoka Presbyterian Church and an active member of the Rebecca Lodge of Kadoka. Grateful for having shared her life are two daughters; Bonnie Riggins of Kadoka, Electa Preslicka and her husband Doug of Bradshaw, Nebraska; three sons, Paul Briggs of Kadoka, Robert Briggs of Kadoka, and Roger Briggs and his wife Linda of Rapid City; eleven grandchildren, Justin Riggins of Casper, Wyoming, Bradley Riggins of Horton, Kansas, Linda Penticoff of Rapid City, Tena Most of Roscoe, Nebraska, Cody Briggs of Marysville, Washington, Larry Briggs of Rawlins, Wyoming, Randy Briggs of Minot, North Dakota, Brent and Jason Preslicka of Lincoln, Nebraska, Elisa Todd of Stromsburg, Nebraska, and Rita Preslicka of Aurora, Nebraska; fifteen great-grandchildren; three brothers, Leslie Struble of Kadoka, Clayton Struble of Denver, Colorado, and Dell Struble of Belle Fourche. In addition to her husband, Beuford Briggs, Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters, Amy Dunsmore and Esther Madsen. Funeral services for Dorothy Maye Briggs, age 81, of Kadoka, will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 4, 2002 at the Presbyterian Church in Kadoka. Dorothy died Friday morning, February 1, 2002 at the Kadoka Care Center in Kadoka, South Dakota. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 3, 2002 at the Rush Funeral Chapel in Kadoka, and one hour preceding the services at the church on Monday.
