Margaret's Register Book Margaret's Flowers
Margaret L. Braddock was born May 23, 1914, at Miller, South Dakota, the daughter of James F. and Laura (Myles) Braddock. She grew up on the north edge of Philip and graduated from Philip High School in 1932. She then attended Morningside College in Sioux City. She returned to Philip where she worked for Dr. Ramsey and Dr. Triola. Margaret was united in marriage to Clarence "Skipper" Durnill on August 1, 1936, in Rapid City. They made their home on a ranch twenty-two miles north of Philip for ten years before moving back to Philip. They continued to operate a small farm northeast of Philip but spent the winter months in California or Arizona from 1975 to 1995. Margaret’s husband preceded her in death on February 11, 1996. Margaret was a member of the United Church; the Order of the Eastern Star, and the Bad River Senior Citizens, all of Philip. Grateful for having shared her life include several nieces; nephews; and cousins. In addition to her husband Skipper, Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; one brother Edward T. Braddock; a half-brother Frank Braddock; two half-sisters Frances Hoyt and Maude Root. Visitation will be held 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 26, at the Rush Funeral Home in Philip, and one hour preceding the services at the church on Monday. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 27, at the United Church in Philip, with Pastor Mark Ford officiating. Interment will be in the Masonic Cemetery, Philip.
