of Wall, South Dakota, died on Tuesday, October 20, 2026 at Custer Care and Rehab Center at the age of 78
Robert Alan “Bob” Lytle, 78, of Wall, South Dakota, passed away October 20, 2026, at the Custer Care Center in Custer, South Dakota.
Bob was born July 23, 1948, in Omaha, Nebraska, to Ada Keep and Glen Lytle. He moved with his family to Philip, South Dakota, where he graduated from Philip High School with the Class of 1966.
In 1967, he married Marsha Sebade, and together they welcomed three children: Robbie, Darren, and Jennifer. He served in the South Dakota National Guard, where he helped with search and rescue efforts following the devastating 1972 Rapid City flood.
Bob worked for Estes Construction in Wall until a serious accident, in which falling beams crushed his legs, forced him to retire from construction. He later worked for the U.S. Post Office—a job he loved, especially since it was right next door to the Cactus Cafe and Lounge.
Bob moved to Colorado in 1978, where he met his wife, Debbie. They later moved to California, where they operated Irish Malone Trucking for many years. In 1994, they returned to Colorado and ran a lighting business until retirement.
Bob and Debbie shared a love for their dogs and were actively involved in the Brighton Elks, spending many Thanksgivings serving dinner to others. They also loved decorating for Christmas, usually getting started in October.
In 2024, Bob returned to South Dakota, settling in Wall, where he spent the remainder of his life. He enjoyed the companionship of his favorite dog, Lexi, and kept busy with small projects in his garage and yard—always making sure he was finished in time for happy hour.
Bob is survived by his sister, Judy Hauptman, and her husband, Richard; his brother, Dick Lytle; his children, Robbie Lytle and his wife, Molly, Darren Lytle, and Jenny Price and her husband, Chad; his grandchildren, Bodhi (Merissa) Lytle, Bailey (Ckyler) Lytle, Cass (Emma) Lytle, Brayden (Cassidy) Price, Brigg Price, Brynlie Price, Layton Lytle, and Taylon Lytle; and his great-grandchildren, Cooper, Jamison, Sloane, Lux, Swayze, and Blaire.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Debbie; his sister-in-law, Marilyn Lytle; and his stepmother, Irish Lytle.
