Milo Leroy Knight, better known as "Butch" to his family and friends, was born February 5, 1937, at Pierre, South Dakota, the son of Earl L. and Jessie E. (Neville) Knight.

He grew up on his parents' homestead in the Milesville community.  He attended rural school there and Philip High School.

At the age of 17 he entered the U.S. Air Force where he served for 21 years.  While serving in Japan he met Tae Ando, whom he married on September 17, 1958, in Tokyo.  To this union were born five children: Donna, James, Bob, Dan, and Cheryl.  On January 1, 1975, he retired as a Master Sergeant.

After their retirement they made their home in Winner, South Dakota, and Springview, Nebraska, before moving to the Milesville area where they operated Knight's Service, known today as The Ridge.  They later moved to Pierre where they lived until moving to Philip.

His wife, Tae, preceded him in death on February 1, 1993.  Milo continued to make his home in Philip.

On November 22, 1994, he was united in marriage to Norma Jean Jurisch at Deadwood, South Dakota.  They made their home in Santa Theresa, New Mexico, until moving to Sturgis, South Dakota.

Milo was a member of the United Church of Philip and a former member of the Philip Lions Club.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Norma Jean Knight of Sturgis; three sons and their spouses, James and Dawn Knight, Bob and Cathy Knight, all of Philip, and Dan and Maria Knight of Seattle, Washington; two daughters, Donna Koehn and her husband, Dale, and Cheryl Knight, all of Philip; nine grandchildren; his mother, Jessie E. Knight of Shelton, Washington; one brother, Amos "Bud" Knight, of Wright, Wyoming; three sisters: Laura Kjar and Myrtle Hawthorne of Shelton, Washington, and Elva Lee Cantley of Sacramento, California; and a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to his first wife, Tae, he was preceded in death by his father, Earl Knight; two brothers, Clinton "Kenny" Knight and Edwin Earl Knight in infancy; and one sister, Ethel Anderson.

A memorial is established.
