of Philip, South Dakota, died on Tuesday, January 1, 1991 at his home in Rapid City at the age of 63
Tom Lynn Odom was born October 29, 1927, on his parents' ranch near Denton Valley, Texas, to Dorse P. and Lola (Klutts) Odom.
He grew up on the ranch and received his first 11 years of education in the Denton Valley area prior to graduating from Baird, Texas, high school in 1945.
He was united in marriage to Gaye Corn on May 27, 1945, at Baird, Texas.
They farmed and ranched in the Denton Valley area until November 1957 when they moved to a farm-ranch in Haakon County north of Philip, South Dakota. They farmed and ranched all their married life.
Tom was a member of the United Church in Philip. He was a member of the Philip Masonic Lodge #153 and also served as a Haakon County Commissioner for 12 years.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Gaye Odom of Philip; two sons, Tom Odom Jr. and his wife, Vicki, of Philip, and Steve Odom and his wife, Suzee, of Baird, Texas; one daughter, Bonnie and her husband, Bill, Shaw of Ogden, Utah; eight grandchildren; and one brother, Blan Odom, of Baird, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Bill Odom.
