of Kadoka, South Dakota, died on Sunday, September 30, 1990 at his home in Kadoka at the age of 58
Stanton V. Uhlir, better known as "Beef" to his family and friends, was born September 3, 1932, in Rapid City, South Dakota, to Clarence F. and Lulu A. (Mills) Uhlir.
He grew up in the Kadoka area and graduated from Kadoka High School in 1951. He attended South Dakota State College in Brookings where he played football and basketball. After graduating in 1956 he returned to the Kadoka area.
He served for over 29 years as the Jackson County Executive Director of the Agriculture Stabilization Conservation Service.
Stanton was united in marriage to Jeanne Miller on July 21, 1962, at Kadoka, South Dakota.
Beef was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Kadoka. He also was an avid sports fan, including football, basketball and track. He still holds the state record for the most points scored (50) in a Class B consolation games in the State Basketball Tournament.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Jeanne; one son, Bart Uhlir; one daughter, Beth Uhlir; one grandson, Luke Carlson; one brother, Clarence "C.D." Uhlir; all of Kadoka; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
