of Philip, South Dakota, died on Sunday, August 27, 1989 at the Good Samaritan Village in Mountain Lake, Minnesota at the age of 97
Florence Rose Rowcliffe, daughter of Charles W. and Harriet (Sayers) Chambers, was born in Alma, Iowa, on January 30, 1892. She received her education in Alma, Iowa. Florence moved with her parents from Alma, Iowa, to Carpenter, South Dakota, and then to Iroquois, South Dakota.
On January 20, 1915, Florence was united in marriage to Raymond G. Rowcliffe. After their marriage, they lived in Iroquois, Elkton, Brookings, and then to Philip, South Dakota. Mr. Rowcliffe died in 1945.
Florence was a life long member of the United Church in Philip. One of her most enjoyable hobbies was playing the piano and was able to play until 1982.
In the later years, Florence made her home with her sons, Robert and Mylo. She became a resident of the Good Samaritan Village in Mountain Lake, Minnesota on December 31, 1982. She lived there until the time of her death.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Addie of Mountain Lake, Minnesota, Charles and Louise of Philip, South Dakota, and Reverend Mylo and Helen of Ellendale, North Dakota; 18 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond, and two daughters.
