In memory of

Harold L. Ferguson

of Philip, South Dakota, died on Wednesday, June 18, 1986 at the Hans P. Peterson Memorial Hospital in Philip at the age of 83

Harold L. Ferguson, son of George and Laura (Hankins) Ferguson, was born March 8, 1903, in Rapid City, South Dakota.  After his first two months he spent the next 80 years on his parents' homestead near Hilland, South Dakota.

He was united in marriage to Martha Jewel Edwards on March 17, 1923, in Philip.

They continued to farm and ranch his parents homestead until 1968 when they semi-retired.  They continued to live on the homestead until moving into Philip in 1983.

They spent some of the winter months in Arizona.

He was a member of the Hilland Lutheran Church where he held various offices.  When the church closed they became members of the First Lutheran Church of Philip.  He was active and served on the board of directors of the Farmers Union for many years and presently was serving on the board of directors of the Bad River Senior Citizens Center of Philip.  He was active and involved in community affairs in the Philip area.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Martha Ferguson of Philip; one son, Donald Ferguson of Philip; three daughters, Mrs. Orval (Ilene) Breen and Jeanette Black, both of Renton, Washington, and Mrs. Ted (Esther) Knutson of Cottonwood, South Dakota; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; one sister, Helen Marks of Thermopolis, Wyoming; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Laura, and one sister, Thelma Little.
