In memory of

Mary Louise Parquet

of Midland, South Dakota, died on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at her family's farm near Revillo, South Dakota at the age of 58

Mary Louise Collins was born February 14, 1959 in Milbank, SD to Lloyd and Monica Collins. She graduated from Grant-Deuel High School in 1977 and went on to attend Northern State University. She graduated from Northern in 1981 with a teaching degree.

Mary was united in marriage to Tom Parquet on June 27, 1981. That fall she began working for the Midland school system where she taught and touched the lives of many students for 36 years.

In 1984 their daughter Kristi Louise Parquet (Heidrich) was born.

Mary was a member of the Midland American Legion Auxiliary, served on the library board, member of the Altar Society, member of the South Dakota Trap Shooting Association, and a member of the Outdoor Women of South Dakota.

Her hobbies included reading, gardening, baking, collecting bears and birdhouses, trap shooting, and fishing. Most of all she cherished spending time with her granddaughters.

Survivors include her husband of 35 years, Tom Parquet of Midland; daughter, Kristi (Jake); two granddaughters, Willow and Remington; 6 brothers, Jim (Donna), Tom, Ron (Janet), Bruce, Dennis (Lorraine), and John Collins; 1 sister, Judy Peterson; father-in-law, Harold Parquet; 2 brothers-in-law, Chuck Parquet and Les Hellevang; and 2 sisters-in-law, Betty (Tim) Weber and Mary (Dave) Larson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Monica Collins; her mother-in-law, Hazel Parquet; a brother-in-law, Tom Peterson; and 2 sisters-in-law, Trnnis Collins and Lois Hellevang.

A visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. on Sunday, June 4, 2017 with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the Midland School Gym.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 5, at the Midland School Gym, with Father Tyler Dennis officiating.

Interment will be at the Midland Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to DaVita Dialysis, 2326 W. 69th St. Sioux Falls, SD 57108. Cards and memorials may also be sent to P.O. Box 91, Midland, SD 57552.

She was one of the reasons I wanted to become a teacher; in fact, I'm quite sure I pretended to be her a time or time while playing school in the basement. Her beauty, kindness and smiles were so natural. I always enjoyed laughing and visiting with her. I will miss her, her familiar laugh and visits when I'm home.     I am so heartbroken to hear of Mary's death. She was such a wonderful, kind and fun loving person. She was always ready for a laugh and I loved visiting with her! I am thankful that I was able to see her just a few short weeks ago...
    I have so many good, positive memories of Mary. During my senior year of school I was a volunteer in her classroom and got to see first hand what a dedicated teacher she was.

    There are just not the right words to express how sad we are for all of you. Mary was one of the best people I know. She was such a positive influence in all of the students lives at school, and the rest of us that were blessed to work with her, and know her. I know she has influenced the lives of so many students through the years, including my children. She was a mentor and friend. I can not imagine being at school without her.
