In memory of

Pat Jensen

of Kadoka, South Dakota, died on Sunday, February 21, 2021 at her home in Kadoka at the age of 85

Patty Lou Jensen was born July 24th, 1935 in Norris, South Dakota. One of ten children of Roy and Mary Stotts. Pat attended a country school near Okaton before graduating high school from Murdo High School in 1955.

On August 10, 1957, Pat was united in marriage to Larry J. Jensen. To this 34-year union, were born five children, Wes, Jeff, Casey, Lory, and Tammy. Her family meant the world to her.

Pat and Larry started their family in Aberdeen. After a couple moves they then moved to Kadoka where they resided until their passing. Pat worked at various places around the community including the Jackson County Courthouse, Jackson County Title Company, and People’s Market. Pat was an active member of the community where she was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, The First Presbyterian Church, Kadoka Ambulance Service and the Buffalo Stampede. Pat was loved by many and made an impact on many lives. She was truly one of a kind and she was known as Grandma Pat to everyone. Some of Pat’s hobbies included the Days of 76 Wagon Train, going to rodeos, her Friday night dates at Club 27 with the Golden Girls, driving around with Lacy listening to Don Williams, watching her grandkids in all of their sporting events, going to Beau’s demolition derbys, sewing, crosswords, puzzles, hanging out at the local watering hole with all of her friends, and her most recent hobby was diamond art. Pat loved to cook and you could often find her in the kitchen with the grandkids alongside her. She has many loved ones in heaven that will be welcoming her with open arms including the rest of the golden girls who she has been missing for years. Grandma Pat was our rock, our world and the glue that held our family together. She was so proud of her grandkids and could often be found cheering them on at their many sporting events.

Grateful for sharing her life include her children Wes, Casey (Jackie) and Lory (Scott); grandchildren Beau James (Allison) and Lacy Rae (Kevin); great-grandchildren: Tayten, Allison, JoRayah, Jerrick, and Joey; brothers, Carl (Linda) Stotts and Roy (Joyce) Stotts; sister Helen Root (E.J.); sisters-in-law, Donna Jensen, Erlaine Braun, and Flavia Stotts; special friends, Colleen Peterson, Clara Jobgen and Cindy Willert; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Jensen; daughter, Tammy; son Jeff; parents, Roy and Mary Stotts; mother and father in-law, H.P. and Esther Jensen; sisters, Mary Jones, Ada Fedderson, Alice Mae Fosheim, Lois McFall, and Grace Hagan; brothers, Harold Stotts, Jim Kingery, Chuck Kingery, Norman Kingery, and Ralph Kingery; brothers-in-law Vernon Jensen, Roger Jensen, and Raymond Braun; sister-in-law, Linda LaBrie; and special friends Letoy Brown, Shirley Willert, Deanna Byrd and Ruby Cadman.

Your wings were ready, but our hearts were not. We are forever grateful for our time with Grandma Pat and although we are broken and our lives will never be the same, we know it is time for us to share her with her other loved ones in Heaven.

A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, February 25 at the Kadoka City Auditorium.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 26, at the Kadoka City Auditorium with Pastor Kathy Chesney officiating. The service will be live streamed.

  • Wes, Casey, Scott & Lory, Beau, Lacy, Tayten, JoRayah, Jerrick, and Allison,
There are no words to express my deepest sorrow. Pat has been a part of our family for longer than Tish, Lory, Tom, Tammy or I have been around. She was mom's best friend, P.I.C., and her traveling partner to many, many places. Pat was such an outgoing person with a heart of gold who loved her family and her extended family dearly. She was quick witted and had comments, good or bad, for most anything.
I know she was greeted at the Pearly Gates with open arms of her husband and children who passed before her and the many friends were there as well.....holding that red beer for her. Pat is so loved. We will sure miss G-ma Pat down here on earth, but I am comforted that we will see her again, up in Heaven.
    Love you guys.
~ Ellie Bettelyoun Martin, SD (2/22/2021)
