In memory of

Ina Muntzert

of Martin, formerly of Hot Springs, South Dakota, died on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at the Bennett County Nursing Home in Martin at the age of 93

Ina Mae Perry was born on November 13, 1922 at the family ranch at Toponas, Colorado, to Ora Scott and Mary Jane (Bird) Perry. She grew up on the ranch and attended elementary school in Toponas. She attended high school in Yampa, Colorado, graduating in 1940. During this time she was very active in the Toponas 4-H club and won several trips to the state fair with her projects. After graduating from high school she worked in the lettuce fields and lettuce sheds packing harvested lettuce in boxes with ice to be shipped by train to Denver.

Ina was united in marriage to James Robert (“Bob”) Muntzert on October 3, 1943, in Yuma, Arizona. They spent almost a year in Holtville, California working in factories there. They then returned to Yampa, Colorado to live.

In 1949, they returned to the family ranch and worked for her parents until 1957 when they purchased the ranch. Ina kept busy with daily chores of the ranch, raising two children, raising chickens, selling eggs and cream, sewing and making clothes for the family. She also was a part-time cook for the elementary school in Toponas. She was active in the Toponas Community Club, the Home Extension Club, and was a 4-H leader for several years. She enjoyed raising flowers and a garden. Her gardening experiences started as a child when she helped her grandfather in his lettuce fields.

In 1962 they moved to Colorado Springs where they ran a shoe repair shop. In addition to helping in the business she also worked as a waitress and in a greenhouse caring for carnations. In 1968 she went to work for Hewlett Packard assembling the circuit boards and later inspecting components used in the production of oscilloscopes. She retired in 1985.

After retirement they moved back to Yampa, Colorado, for a time, then moved to Glenwood, New Mexico. After the death of her husband, Bob, she moved to Delta, Colorado, where she lived until she moved to South Dakota. She moved into Pine Hills Assisted Living in Hot Springs, South Dakota, in early June 2008 where she resided until failing health resulted in her move to Bennett County Nursing Home June 2016 where she died.

She had numerous hobbies including painting pastel and oil pictures, making silver jewelry, sewing, embroidery work, crocheting, wood working, tooling leather, and painting china. She enjoyed gardening and raising flowers. She made stuffed toys for her grandchildren and was especially proud of the teddy bears she made.

Survivors include her son Jim Muntzert and his wife Karen of Victor, Colorado; her daughter, Echo Ione Zickrick and her husband Sonny of Long Valley; four grandchildren, Cale Zickrick of Pierre, Ian (Erin) Muntzert of Sydney, Australia, Loren Muntzert of Portland, Oregon, and Kylie (Jesse) Worm of Colorado Springs, Colorado; one great-granddaughter Erynn Worm; a special cousin, Verna Whaley of Phippsburg, Colorado; and a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband, Bob, Ina was preceded in death by her parents; one sister Georgia Klumker; two brothers, Junior Perry and Kay Perry; and a grandson Scott Zickrick.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, July 16, at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Long Valley, with Pastor Lauren Ley officiating.
