Johnnie Berdell Raben

of Post, TX, died on Monday, July 26, 2021 at his home in Texas at the age of 71

Johnnie Berdell Raben, 71 of Post passed away Monday, July 26, 2021. He was born August 18, 1949 to John Chester and Bernice (Wolff) Raben in Crawford, Nebraska. John married Michele Mason May 8, 1976 in Post. He enlisted in the U.S Army May 21, 1969 and served during the Vietnam War. John was Honorably discharged on April 17, 1971. After the Army, he worked for many years as a Dozer Operator for H&M Dirt Contractor, Bills Welding, and was self employed. John had amazing skills at operating equipment. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, building knives, wood work, but especially loved spending time with his family. He was a loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Ami Garcia and husband Daniel of Comanche, Texas, Jonna McNeely and husband Colton of Tahoka, siblings, Franklin Dee Raben of Michigan, Gaynold Willoughby and husband Tony of South Dakota, Linus Raben of South Dakota; grandchildren, John Daniel Garcia, D’Namee Dyann Garcia, Kylie Michele McNeely, Averie Brooke McNeely; one great grand daughter on the way; sister-in-law, Cindee Hanes of Post; and several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Michele on November 23, 2017; his parents; siblings, Meredith Pauly, Thomas Raben.

Family will be receiving friends Wednesday, August 4, 2021 from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. CDT at Combest Family Funeral Homes in Tahoka.

Services will be Thursday, August 5, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. CDT at Combest Family Funeral Homes in Tahoka with burial to follow at Terrance Cemetery in Post, Texas.

Memorial donations in John’s name can be made to the Wounded Warriors Project.
