Steven J. Stickler was born on August 18, 1957, in Philip, South Dakota, to Harold "Bud" and Dorothy Stickler.

In 1986, he moved to Omaha, NE and this is where he spent the next 38 years starting and raising a family. In 2024, he returned to South Dakota, the place that had always held a special place in his heart.

Steve never met a stranger. Whether you knew him for five minutes or five years, chances are you walked away with a story, a laugh, or something new you had learned. He had an infectious gift for conversation and a genuine curiosity about people that made them feel welcome.

A dedicated and hardworking man, Steve wore many hats throughout his life and built a career filled with diverse experiences. He was one of the best salesmen around, though he also never met a gadget, invention, or "can't-miss deal" that he wasn't convinced was worth trying. He was always dreaming up his next big project, eager to learn something new or tackle his next adventure with optimism and enthusiasm.

The outdoors was where Steve felt most at home and nowhere captured his heart quite like the Black Hills of South Dakota. Many of his favorite memories—and many of his most entertaining stories—began there. He had a remarkable ability to turn everyday adventures into unforgettable tales, often leaving family and friends wondering just how much of the story was true.

As the proud father of five daughters, Steve fully embraced life as a girl dad. He willingly sat through tea parties, wore makeup, sported painted fingernails, and found joy in simply being part of whatever stage of life his girls were in. Those same qualities carried into his role as Grandpa, where his playful spirit truly shined. His grandchildren brought out the kid in him, and few things made him happier than making them laugh, teaching them something new, or creating memories they will carry with them for years to come.

Steve is survived by his daughters: Victoria Stickler of Bozeman, Montana; Stephanie (Alan) Aanerud of Omaha, Nebraska; Brandea (Alex) Morton of Omaha, Nebraska; Kara (Tynnan) Moreno of Omaha, Nebraska; and Jennifer (Josh) Post of Lincoln, Nebraska. He is also lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Savannah, Tylan, Avery, Jett, Miles, Reid, Beau, Kate, and Silas; his sister, Janice (Craig) Heigh of Rapid City, South Dakota; along with many extended family members and friends whose lives were brighter because they knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold "Bud" and Dorothy Stickler of Philip, South Dakota.

Steve's life was one of hard work, endless ideas, spontaneous adventures, and stories that will continue to be shared around family tables for generations. While he will be deeply missed, those who knew and loved him will remember him every time they strike up a conversation with a stranger, head for the Black Hills, dream up a new project, or find themselves unable to resist one more "good deal."

He leaves behind a lifetime of stories, lessons, laughter, and memories that, like him, will never be forgotten.
