KyleRae Todd

of Interior, South Dakota, died on Thursday, April 24, 2014
as a result of a car accident north of Interior at the age of 14

KyleRae Bailey Marie Todd was born May 6, 1999, in Rapid City, South Dakota, the daughter of Richard Wesley and Lacey Ann (Logan) Todd. She grew up in Interior with the exception of a few periods of time in New Mexico. She always considered Interior to be her home. Four years ago, she came to live with Tony and Crystal and was adopted by them. She received her elementary education in Interior, and was currently a freshman at Philip High School.

KyleRae loved to write. She wrote many stories and aspired to get a book published. She enjoyed reading and dancing, but family was most important in her life. She loved all her family, was very forgiving, and was never afraid to say “I love you.”

KyleRae always had a smile on her face, and had the biggest heart anyone could imagine. She was wise beyond her years, and her goal was to attend Yale University, which was the jersey she had on the day of her accident. She was a true role model. Her life on Earth was short, but she impacted the lives of everyone she touched. She will be missed.

Grateful for having shared her life include her adopted parents Tony and Crystal Grimes of Interior; her mother Lacey Ann (Todd) Thorson of Philip; her father Richard Todd of Albuquerque, New Mexico; four brothers Ricky Todd of Albuquerque, Andrew Philip Grimes of Interior, Jakob Todd of Albuquerque, Logan Thorson of Philip; one sister Bailey Grimes of Interior; one step-brother Jesse Thorson of Philip; her maternal grandparents Russ and Barb Logan of Philip; her paternal grandfather George Todd of Albuquerque; her paternal grandmother Sandy Thompson of Phoenix, Arizona; her maternal great-grandmother Gay Logan of Philip; three aunts Heather Wipf (Zack) of Watertown, Erica Reynolds of Wall, and Victoria Logan of Philip; seven uncles Alan Grimes (Lisa), Dean Grimes, and Will Grimes (Amanda Reddy), all of Interior, Tom Grimes of Murdo, John Nachtigall of Owanka, Lane Logan (Lorrin) of Hampton, Virginia, and Samuel Stone of Wall; and a host of other relatives and friends.

KyleRae was preceded in death by her grandparents Lornce and MaryLou Grimes; and her great-grandfather Phil Logan.

Funeral services were held 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 28, at the Interior School Gym, with Pastor Kathy Chesney officiating.

Interment was held following a luncheon at the Wall Cemetery.

Tony, Crystal, and family; Words cannot express our deep sorrow over this loss. KyleRae meant so much to Kreid and Juss. The little group from Interior at PHS, they were there for each other- her absence will be a deep void. She had a beautiful smile that came straight from a beautiful heart! God is a God of peace and strength though and may you all find comfort in His words- as I know KyleRae did. It is my prayer that this very difficult tragedy will draw you even closer to our Lord and Savior. Our thoughts and prayers are with you!

Tony and Crystal, Just thinking of today and so often throughout the days that have gone by. Loss of our precious children hurts deep and leaves an emptiness in our hearts and lives. Jesus is there to fill the void and help with the pain if we will only let Him in our hearts and lives each day. God will give you strength and refuge through each day for the rest of our days here on earth until we can be in Heaven with Him and our loved ones. Love, Merilee
