A. Eldon Magnuson was born October 31st, 1931 at Pierre, South Dakota, the son of Gunnar and Henrietta (Feddersen) Magnuson. He grew up on a ranch in the Draper area where he received his education. Eldon spent from October, 1952-August 1954 in the US Army during the Korean War.
Besides a time working for Clarence Hullinger building dams, Eldon spent his entire life farming and ranching northwest of Draper.
He was united in marriage to Esther Schmidt on May 4, 1952 in Pierre SD. To this union five daughters were born, Kathie, Shelley, Terri, Ginger, and Lori.
He was a Member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Draper. He served on the Township board for several years. He was a member of Barrett Dowling Legion Post #301 in Draper.
Eldon enjoyed playing cards with neighbors and friends. About once a month you would find his brother Emil, the Feddersen boys, and Leroy Booth playing cards somewhere. He enjoyed farming and ranching, his daily phone visits with Emil, going to his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids activities, gator rides looking through the cattle.
