Kirk Scott Magelkyof Kadoka, South Dakota, died on Friday, April 26, 2002
|
Kirk Scott Magelky was born April 19, 1973, in the Kadoka Hospital, the son of Gerard "Jerry" and Janet (Strand) Magelky. He attended and graduated from Kadoka High School in 1991.
Kirk worked at several jobs in Kadoka. His first official job was being a lawn mower mechanic for Larry Jensen, from there he worked for Kadoka Standard, Boyd L. Porch, and then for Stanley Porch. He found his true love in trucking and started Magelky Trucking at the age of eighteen. He hauled cattle, grain, and hay. Kirk loved anything to do with turning wrenches and could take apart and put back together anything mechanical. He would take motors apart from tractors to large size trucks. If there was anything mechanical to be fixed, Kirk could do it.
He also loved working at the farm in his shop and teaching his little brother all that he knew. He started his horse herd with a colt from Oliver Willert and would go out and work with his horses. He also had cows and worked together with his dad and brother putting up hay and taking care of the animals on the farm. He had a special way with animals. One of his favorite pastimes was going fishing with his little brother and his friends.
Kirk was a member of the Busy Beavers 4-H Club, the Kadoka Volunteer Fire Department, and the Concordia Lutheran Church.
Grateful for having shared his life are his parents, Gerard and Janet Magelky and his brother Kipp Magelky, all of Kadoka; his paternal grandmother Margaret Magelky of Dickinson, North Dakota; his uncles Lynn Magelky of New England, North Dakota, Bruce Magelky of Camden, Missouri, and Curtis Strand of Dickinson, North Dakota; his aunt Julie Richter of Rapid City, South Dakota; and his cousins Shane, Dustin, Frankie, Mikel, Tracey, Kelly, and Colleen Magelky, and Todd, Jon, Lee, Tammy, Dawn, and Sarah Strand, Tim Richter, Becky Gion, Vronna Mollman, and Gina Molbert; and a host of friends and business associates.
