Leslie "Les" Bryan

of Wall, South Dakota, died on Sunday, February 6, 2000
at the Good Samaritan Center in New Underwood at the age of 87

Leslie Bryan, also known as Les to his family and friends, was born January 26, 1913, in Santee, Nebraska, the son of Marien and Annie (Haug) Bryan.

As a child, he moved with his family to the Wall area.  As a young man, he worked for the WPA building roads in the Badlands.  He also worked as a lineman building power lines in eastern Pennington County.

He was united in marriage to Mavis Van Vleck on October 31, 1942, at Wall, South Dakota.

They made their home on a farm north of Wall, which they operated and resided on all their married life.

His wife preceded him in death on January 26, 2000.

Leslie was a long time-director of the Golden West Telecommunications and also was a committeeman for the Pennington County ASCS.  He was an active member of the Wall Lions Club for many years.

Grateful for having shared his life are his daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Pete Pinsonneault of Cedar Falls, Iowa; two granddaughters, Cindy Sanders and Liza Kiewiet, both of Cedar Falls; three great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Fern Steinburg of Rapid City; and a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to his wife, Mavis, he was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Dwayne, Glen, Matt and Eldon; and three sisters, Mildred, Jean and Iris.

A memorial is established.
