Woodrow "Woody" Albin

of Belvidere, South Dakota, died on Saturday, December 25, 1999
at his home in Belvidere at the age of 86

Woodrow Wilson Albin, better known as "Woody" to his family and friends, was born December 14, 1913 in Hampstead, Maryland, the son of William and Margaret P. (Crowthers) Albin.

As a child, the family lived in the Baltimore, Maryland, area.  In 1922, the family moved west, living in South Dakota, Minnesota and Wisconsin.  In 1931, the family moved back to South Dakota and made their home near Wanblee.

As a young man, he worked for various ranchers and farmers in Wanblee, South Dakota, and the Gordon, Nebraska, areas.

He was united in marriage to Ercell Riggins on February 21, 1934 at Kadoka, South Dakota.

They made their home on a ranch near Wanblee until 1937 when they moved to a ranch near Interior, South Dakota.  In 1945, they moved to their present farm-ranch northeast of Belvidere, where they have continued to reside.

Woody was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church of Kadoka.  He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star and the Shriners.  He served for 25 years on the A.S.C. Board.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Ercell Albin of Belvidere; two sons and their spouses, Ross and Mabel Albin of Powell, Wyoming, and Roy and Rose Albin of Parkton, Maryland; three grandchildren, Roy Gene Albin, Woodrow Ross Albin, and Marcy Albin Horne; six great grandchildren, Tori, Kayla, Devin, Ezri, Randy and Jason; one great-great grandson, Raven; two brothers, Howard Albin of Caldwell, Idaho, Henry Albin of Mission, Texas; three sisters, Mildred Osborn of Thorp, Washington; Ruth Allen of Lewiston, Idaho, Margaret "Tena" Shirley of Boise, Idaho and a host of other relatives and friends.

Woody was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Rosanne Albin and Joe Dean Albin; his parents; and three brothers, Charley, Jake, and Milton; and three sisters, Ella, Jessie and Edith.

A memorial is established.
