Teresa L. Woodruff

of Philip, South Dakota, died on Friday, January 15, 1999
at the Hans P. Peterson Memorial Hospital in Philip at the age of 81

Teresa L. Murphy was born November 7, 1917, in Haakon County, near Philip, South Dakota.  The daughter of Jeremiah and Elizabeth (Noonan) Murphy.

She grew up and was educated in the rural schools of Haakon County and graduated from Philip High School in 1935.

Teresa worked in Gascoignes Store in Philip until moving to Rapid City, where she worked at Northwestern Engineering Company.  Later she moved to California where she worked at Travis Air Force Base and made her home in Vacaville, California.

In December of 1955 she was united in marriage to William Woodruff and they continued to make their home in Vacaville.

Teresa retired from the Air Base in 1979 but continued to reside in California.

Because of serious illness in 1981, Teresa had resided in health care centers in Califonia.  After her husband's death on February 4, 1994, she moved back to Philip where she has since made her home in the Philip Health Care Center, where she would be near relatives.

Teresa was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Philip.

Grateful for having shared her life are her sister, Catherine O'Connor, of Philip; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband, William, she was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Joseph Murphy and two sisters, Genevieve Hart and Mary Murphy.
