Rodney D. Gropper was born August 23, 1942 at Deadwood, South Dakota, the son of Glen and Florence (Folsom) Gropper. Rodney grew up at Kadoka, South Dakota where he graduated from Kadoka High School. He attended the Black Hills University at Spearfish, South Dakota for three years.
Rodney married Patricia Holcomb at Kadoka, South Dakota and they moved to Denver, Colorado where he was a Master Carpenter. For 17 years he was engaged in the trucking industry before coming to McCook, Nebraska where he was employed by Cornbelt Chemical Company. In 1994 he joined League Builders and helped build the Holiday Inn Express as well as Highland Park and Willow Ridge retirement facilities. He was employed by League Builders until his death.
His love for woodworking was shared with his many friends in the home products he skillfully created.
Rodney is survived by three daughters, Mitzi Jean Mitchell and her husband, Charles of Kadoka, South Dakota; Marci Jo Schortzman and her husband, Dan of Cody, Wyoming and Michelle Jill Hook and her husband, Todd of Philip, South Dakota. Five grandchildren, Brandon Mitchell, Tyrel Mitchell, TiShea Hook, TiMarie Hook and Shania Schortzman. His parents, Glen and Florence Gropper of Kadoka, South Dakota. One sister, Sandra Lynn Otis and her husband, Paul; and one nephew, Darrell Dean Otis all of Thornton, Colorado, and relatives and friends.
