Fern I. Cronk

of Philip, South Dakota, died on Friday, April 17, 1998
at the Osage Nursing Home in Nowata, Oklahoma at the age of 87

Fern I. Baldwin was born August 15, 1910, at Philip, South Dakota, the daughter of Albert and Emma (Christensen) Baldwin.  She grew up and received her education in Philip.

Fern was united in marriage to Edward "Ed" Cronk on September 14, 1927, near Philip.  They were active in ranching in the Philip area all their lives.

After her husband's death on April 17, 1978, she continued to make her home on the ranch east of Philip.

Fern was a member of the United Church of Philip and a former member of the local Extension clubs.

Grateful for having shared her life are her son, Marvin Cronk of Blomfontein, South Africa; two daughters, Virginia Johnson and Patty Zinn, borth of Ochelata, Oklahoma; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Mahlon Baldwin of Lincoln, Nebraska, and James Baldwin of San Diego, California; one sister, Pearl Barnhart of Rapid City; numerous nieces and nephews; special friends, Bill and Sandra O'Connor of Philip; and a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband, Ed, she was preceded in death by a son, Neal Cronk, on April 25, 1994; her parents; two brothers, Alvin and Gale Baldwin; and two sisters, Wilma Harvey and Carrie McKelvey.
