Alma "Marion" Simsof Wall, South Dakota, died on Tuesday, March 18, 1997

Alma Marion Shedden, better known as "Marion" to her family and friends, was born December 9, 1913, at Deadwood, South Dakota, the daughter of Harry and Neva Adlaine (Estes) Shedden.
As a child she moved with her family to Edgemont, South Dakota, where they resided for three years before moving back to the Deadwood and Mystic areas, where she grew up and received her education.
Marion was united in marriage to Alva D. Sims on December 23, 1935, at Rapid City, South Dakota.
They made their home on the Sims Homestead located northeast of Wall, South Dakota. They farmed and ranched with his parents and later they took over the operation. They also owned Sims Repair, which they operated from the homestead.
After their retirement in 1990 they remained on the homestead for awhile and then moved to Rapid City where they made their home with their daughter, Patty Kangas. After her husband, Alva's death on December 26, 1993, Marion continued to live in Rapid City until moving back onto the homestead where she made her home with her daughter, Patty.
Marion was a member of the United Methodist Church of Wall.
Grateful for having shared her life are her son, David Edward Sims, of Wall; two daughters, Noel Merritt of Denver, Colorado, and Patricia "Patty" Kangas of Wall; four grandchdilren: Donald, Robin, and Pammy Merrit and Michael Kangas; 11 great-grandchildren; one brother, Don Shedden of Colorado Springs, Colorado; two sisters, Neva Boekhout of Hot Springs and Erma Chappell of Colorado Springs; and a host of other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, Alva, she was preceded in death by two sons, Donald "Butch" Sims and David H. Sims in infancy; one grandson, Patrick Kangas; her parents; and one brother, Tom Shedden.
A memorial is established.
