Lloyd G. Prichardof Rapid City, South Dakota, formerly of Kadoka, South Dakota, died on Saturday, December 31, 1994

Lloyd G. Prichard was born May 2, 1918, on a ranch in the Weta area to Albert and Bessie Daly (Hall) Prichard. He grew up on the ranch and graduated from Weta High School in 1937.
As a young man he worked as a ranch hand in the Weta area and on the U+ Ranch near Gordon, Nebraska. Later he operated a riding stable and hunting camp near Grand Lake, Colorado.
He served with the Remount Division of the U.S. Army during World War II, stationed at Ft. Robinson, Nebraska. After his discharge he returned to the Weta area where he worked until moving to Yankton, South Dakota. He aired on WNAX Radio, under the name of "Lonesome Lloyd", and was with Happy Jack O'Malley and George B. German. After a time he returend to the Weta area.
He was united in marriage to Joan Hansen on July 22, 1952, at Sturgis, South Dakota.
They made their home on a ranch in the Weta area until 1961 when they purchased the present family ranch located on the old town site of Weta. After purchasing the old town site, he was proclaimed mayor of Weta. In 1966 they moved into Kadoka but continued to operate the family ranch.
Lloyd enjoyed singing and writing songs as well as entertaining at nursing homes, the V.A. hospital, and other community events. He did a noon time show on KOTA Party Line with Vern Sheppard for several years.
In October of 1987, because of health reasons, they moved to Rapid City.
He was a member of the Presbyterian Church, the American Legion Post #27, and the Masonic Lodge #155, where he served as Master Mason and later served as District Master Mason; and was a member of the "Friends of Old Time Music."
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Joan Prichard of Rapid City; one son, Cleve Prichard and his wife, Laurie, of Kadoka; three daughters, Kim Noyes and her husband, Doug, of Rapid City, Debra Kezar and her husband, Terry, of Gordon, Nebraska, and Joni Thomsen and her husband, Robert, of Longvalley; 14 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; one sister, Ruth Cullen of Austin, Texas; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one sister.
