Ruth R. Elshereof Rapid City, South Dakota, formerly of Milesville, South Dakota, died on Wednesday, August 10, 1994

Ruth R. Eymer was born July 21, 1906, on a farm near Springfield, South Dakota, to Timothy and Jessie (Dempster) Eymer.
At the age of 12, she moved with her family to a homestead northwest of Milesville. She grew up on the homestead and later graduated from Tyndall High School.
After receiving her teaching certificate, she taught school for three years in the Hilland area.
Ruth was united in marriage to Paul L. Elshere on September 30, 1928, in Minnesota. They made their home on a ranch north of Milesville, which they operated until 1964 when they retired and moved into Philip.
Her husband, Paul L. Elshere, preceded her in death on March 9, 1966.
Ruth continued to reside in Philip until the fall of 1988 when she moved into the West Hills Village Apartments in Rapid City. She also enjoyed spending her summers at her cabin in Silver City, South Dakota.
She was a charter member of the Community Evangelical Free Church and was a member of the Bad River Senior Citizens Center, both in Philip. She was also a charter member of the South Dakota CowBelles.
Grateful for having shared her life are her two sons, Paul M. Elshere and his wife, Joy, of Milesville, and Arlie Elshere and his wife, Danielle, of Keystone; two daughters, Phyllis Hanrahan of Philip and Linda Conner and her husband, Don, of Englewood, Colorado; 11 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; a sister, Florence Neville of Philip; and a host of other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, Paul L. Elshere, she was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Robert Eymer; two sisters, Frances Wilhelm and Jean Fleming.
A memorial is established.
