Letha Blom Jeffords

of Belvidere, South Dakota, died on Sunday, February 27, 1994
at the Kadoka Nursing Home in Kadoka at the age of 88

Letha Thomas was born February 5, 1906, the daughter of Silas and Cora (Funkhauser) Thomas at Atlanta, Missouri.

As a young girl she moved with her parents to the Okaton, South Dakota area.  She grew up and received her education in that community.

Letha was united in marriage to Jacob "Jake" Bom on December 13, 1924.  They made their home on a farm-ranch in the Stamford community, later moving to a farm-ranch east of Belvidere where they resided until moving to a farm-ranch north of Belvidere.

After her husband's death on September 12, 1939, Letha and the children moved into Belvidere.  Letha worked at the Belvidere Bank, later transferring to the Kadoka Bank where she worked as a teller.  The family moved into Kadoka in the early 1950s.

Letha was united in marriage to Lester Jeffords on May 4, 1965, at Rapid City, South Dakota.  Letha then continued to work at the bank until retiring in 1969.

In 1969 Letha and Lester moved to Mesa, Arizona, where they made their home.  Her husband, Lester, preceded her in death on March 6, 1990.  Letha then returned to the Kadoka area where she made her home at the Gateway Apartments until November 1991 when she moved into the Kadoka Retirement Home where she resided until her death.

Letha was a member of the Presbyterian Church and the Rebecca Lodge, both of Kadoka.

Grateful for having shared her life are her three sons, Pete Blom and his wife, Virginia, of Wall, Dean Blom and his wife, Rita, of Belvidere, and Willis Blom and his wife, Charlotte, of Philip; one daughter, Lorraine Mundt and her husband, Philip, of Lago Vista, Texas; a son-in-law, Wayne Kimball of Mesa, Arizona; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; a brother, Erman Thomas of Mesa, Arizona; a sister, Mary Simmons of Bull Head City, Arizona; and a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to her first husband, Jake Blom, and her second husband, Lester Jeffords, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Ilene Kimball; a granddaughter, Shannon Blom; and a great-grandson, Jeremiah Kary.
