Robert Quatierof Midland, South Dakota, died on Wednesday, February 24, 1993

Robert Quatier was born September 16, 1904, at Avon, South Dakota, to Henry and Bertha (Kelly) Quatier.
In 1906, at the age of two, he moved to western South Dakota with his parents, two brothers, and one sister, where they homesteaded southwest of Midland. He grew up and received his education in rural schools in that area.
Bob worked as a bridge carpenter for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad.
He was united in marriage to Ione Walters on June 15, 1927, at Midland, South Dakota. To this marriage was born four children.
Bob worked for the railroad until 1943 when he purchased and operated the Midland Dray Line until retiring. They also owned and operated the Midland Hardware Store.
Bob and his wife, Ione, lived, worked, and raised their family in Midland. In 1988 he became a resident of the Covington Heights Nursing Home in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
He was a member of St. William Catholic Church of Midland and St. Michael Catholic Church of Sioux Falls. He was a member of the Midland Commercial Club and the Midland Volunteer Fire Department.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Ione, of Sioux Falls; two sons, Roy Quatier of Yankton, South Dakota, and Robert A. Quatier of Sioux Falls; two daughters, Irene Hubbard of Gillette, Wyoming, and Jean Hennies of Sioux Falls; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one sister, Bertha Bruce of Wichita, Kansas; one brother, Emmett Quatier of Wickenberg, Arizona; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Harry and Charles.
