Vida N. Eisenbraun

of Creighton, South Dakota, died on Sunday, December 6, 1992
in Rapid City at the age of 74

Vida Nellie Engel was born April 6, 1918, in Jerauld County near Wessington Springs, South Dakota, one of 12 children born to George and Lydia (Buechler) Engel, Sr.  She grew up on a farm near Miller, South Dakota, and received her education in that area.

Vida was united in marriage to Rudolph H. "Rudy" Eisenbraun on March 12, 1938, at her parents' farm near Miller.

They farmed and ranched three miles east of Creighton.  Violet, Harlan and Jerald were raised on this ranch until 1946 when the family moved to the Henry Eisenbraun (Rudy's parents' farm-ranch located two miles east of Creighton.  Kenneth and Nickolas were raised there.  Many other children called the Eisenbraun farm-ranch home, among them James Vasquez.

Vida enjoyed milking cows while living on the farm-ranch, a job she continued until the age of 74.  Vida's main hobby was growing flowers, but she also enjoyed making feather pillows using her own duck and goose feathers.

Her pride and joy were her four grandchildren: Jim, Justin, Susan and Max, and her great-grandson, Rawlley.

She continued to reside on the farm-ranch until November 6, 1992, when she entered the hospital.  On November 27th she moved to the Vasquez home in Rapid City, and made her home there with her daughter, Violet, until her death.

Vida was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church and the Friendship Club, both of Creighton.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband of 54 years, Rudy Eisenbraun, of Creighton; three sons, Harlan Eisenbraun and his wife, Linda, of Creighton, Kenneth Eisenbraun and his wife, Joyce, of Hopkinton, Massachusetts, and Nick Eisenbraun of Creighton; a daughter, Violet Eisenbraun of Rapid City; three grandsons, Jim Eisenbraun of Wall, Justin Eisenbraun of Creighton, and Max Indelicato of Boston, Massachusetts; a granddaughter, Susan (Mrs. Daryl) Dartt of Wall; one great-grandson, Rawlley Dartt of Wall; three brothers, George Engel, Jr. of LaPorte, Colorado, Ed Engel of Harrison, Arkansas, and Fred Engel of Centralia, Washington; two sisters, Sophia Engel and Lydia Hall, both of Miller, South Dakota; and a host of other relatives and friends.
