Rex L. Rigginsof Wanblee, South Dakota, died on Wednesday, June 17, 1992

Rex L. Riggins was born August 17, 1917, on a farm near Kingsley, Iowa, to Floyd and Mary Elizabeth (Dugan) Riggins. He grew up in the Kingsley area where he received his education.
As a young man he moved with his parents, brothers and sisters to a ranch located 10 miles west of Wanblee, South Dakota. He ranched there with his parents, brothers and sisters until entering the U.S. Army on July 2, 1942. He served during World War II, and after his discharge on January 4, 1946, he returned to the ranch.
Rex was united in marriage to Zola Mae Fite on October 15, 1947, at Pierre, South Dakota.
They made their home on the Riggins family ranch west of Wanblee, which they have continued to operate all their married life. They rasied their family there and later ranched with their son, Tim, and his wife, Debra, until Tim's death on July 16, 1986.
Rex was a member of the Kadoka Presbyterian Church and the Bennett County American Legion Post #240 of Martin, South Dakota.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Zola Mae Riggins, of Wanblee; two daughters, Zoni (Mrs. Charles) Gittings of Philip, and Jan (Mrs. Walt) Schaefer of Highmore, South Dakota; a daughter-in-law, Debra Riggins, of Philip; nine grandchildren; four brothers: Harold Riggins of Interior, Wayne Riggins of Wanblee, Loras "Tuffy" Riggins of Wanblee, and Jerry Riggins of Kadoka; four sisters: Ercell (Mrs. Woodrow) Albin of Belvidere, Cloreta (Mrs. Marvin) Eisenbraun of Wanblee, Faye Eisenbraun of Kadoka, and Valene (Mrs. Bud) Perault of Belvidere; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Rex was preceded in death by two sons, Guy, as an infant, and Tim Riggins, on July 16, 1986; his parents; and two brothers, Cecil and Lynden Riggins.
