Grace C. Lindgren

of Philip, South Dakota, died on Friday, July 5, 1991
at the Philip Nursing Home in Philip at the age of 88

Grace C. Jensen was born December 3, 1902, in a log house on her parents' homestead, on the North Fork of the Bad River, west of what later would be known as Philip, South Dakota, to Nels and Bena (Carstensen) Jensen.

She grew up there and received her elementary education in rural schools prior to graduating from Philip High School in 1920.  After completeing business college in Rapid City, she worked in the Cottonwood Bank and later at the Philip Bank until 1929.

She was united in marriage to Carl Lindgren on August 11, 1929, at her parents' home on the original Jensen homestead west of Philip.  They made their home in Philip all their married life.

During World War II, she returned to the Philip Bank where she continued her employment until retiring in the early 1950s.

After her husband's death on May 3, 1971, she continued to reside in Philip.  Because of health reasons she moved into the Philip Nursing Home in October 1980 and continued to reside there until her death.

She was a member of the First Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid; a life member of the Philip Chapter #100, Order of the Eastern Star, where she had served as Worthy Matron; and was an honorary member of the Progressive Extension Club.  Grace will always be remembered for her loving, caring way toward all who knew her.
