Earl Allen Eliason was born July 10, 1935 to Volla (Sandusky) and Carl Eliason. He lived on the family ranch while attending grade school in Cottonwood and high school in Quinn.
Earl served in the United States Army from 1957 - 1959.
He was married to Mary Flanagan in 1963. He was married to Mary Schull Percy in 1983.
Earl attended barber school in 1963-1964. He began cutting hair in a shop in Philip, eventually taking over ownership. He operated Earl’s Barber Shop for over 40 years. He continued to live on the ranch until he moved to a nursing home in Rapid City in 2007.
Survivors include sons William Eliason of Gillette, WY, and Peter and his wife Jenny Eliason of Sierra Vista, AZ; daughters Mary and her husband Clifford Poss of Philip, SD, and Alice and her husband Rob Almendinger of Brainerd, MN; his grandchildren Hailey Eliason, Seamus Eliason, Ethan Eliason, Grace Eliason, Carl Poss, Jane Poss, and Lucas and his wife Kirsten Almendinger; one great-granddaughter, Ariana Almendinger; one sister, Helen Scott of Lynnwood, WA; nephews John Scott, Terry Scott, and David Scott, and niece Mary Robbins.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents Carl and Volla Eliason.
A visitation was held on Sunday, February 22, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Rush Funeral Home in Philip.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, February 23, at the United Church in Philip.
Burial followed at the Cottonwood Cemetery.
