Jerrold L. Johnson was born March 26, 1904, at Elk Point, South Dakota, to Gustav M. and Sophie Johnson.
In 1906, he traveled with his parents and two sisters by train to Pierre, took the ferry across the Missouri River and traveled by covered wagon where they homesteaded northwest of Philip. They moved to Philip in 1908 where he lived until moving to Mesa, Arizona, in 1972. He moved to Waterloo, Illinois, in June of 1988.
Jerrold worked at Dorothy Brothers Garage in Philip for 40 years until retiring in 1969.
On May 11, 1929, he was united in marriage to Hannah G. Bly. She died on November 22, 1962.
On June 10, 1966, he married Ada Hanrahan. She died on July 1, 1967.
On April 22, 1970, he married Margaret Kling.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret; a son, Donald Johnson of Lakewood, Colorado; two daughters, Jeraldine Allender of Donalsonville, Georgia, and Mrs. Martin (Twylah) Luedtke of Rapid City, South Dakota, and Susan (Urban) Magnuson of Rock Springs, Wyoming; 8 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Evelyn Haberly of Philip, Leota Schimke of Rapid City, Viola Fitzgerald of Topango, California, and Fern Brooks of Norman, Oklahoma; a step-son, Donald Kling of Geneva, Illinois; a step-daughter, Joan Kloos of Waterloo, Illinois; and 6 step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first two wives, his parents, and a grandson.
The body was cremated.
