Ralph Fonseca was born June 7, 1932, in Lyford, Texas, to Miguel and Olivia (Cantu) Fonseca.
He grew up and received his education in the Lyford, Texas, area.
Ralph served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After his discharge in 1954, he returned to Texas where he held various jobs. In the mid 1960's he came to Philip, South Dakota, where he worked as a ranch and farm hand.
He was united in marriage to Patricia Patton on March 2, 1968, in Philip. They made their home in Philip where he worked as a machinist. They later moved to Gillette, Wyoming, then to Casper, Wyoming, where he continued his machinist trade. In 1983 they moved to Gering, Nebraska, where they lived and he continued his trade.
Ralph was a former member of the First Lutheran Church of Philip, a member of the V.F.W. Post in Raymondville, Texas, and the American Legion Post #36 of Gering, Nebraska.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia, of Gering, Nebraska; one son, Michael, of Chadron, Nebraska; four daughters, Gloria Anderson of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Christiana Fonseca of Chevy Chase, Maryland, Karen and Ann Fonseca, both of Gering; three grandchildren; his mother, Olivia Fonseca of Raymondville, Texas; five brothers, Miguel Jr., Rudolph and Raul Fonseca, all of Lyford, Texas, Santiago Fonseca of Raymondville, Texas, and Melchoir Fonseca of Diamond Bar, California; and one sister, Candas Velazques of Huntington Beach, California.
