Mary Bernice Chapellof Quinn, South Dakota, died on Sunday, March 20, 1988

Mary Bernice Goodsell, better known as "Bernice" to her family and friends, was born November 15, 1917, at Quinn, South Dakota.
She grew up on a farm nine miles northwest of Wall, South Dakota. She received her education in that area.
As a young lady she moved to New Orleans, Louisiana, where she made her home with her older sister. While in New Orleans she was employed as a waitress.
Bernice was united in marriage to Henry Chapell on November 9, 1950, in New Orleans, Louisiana.
They made their home in New Orleans until 1957 when Bernice and her children moved back to Quinn, South Dakota, because of her mother's illness. While in Quinn, Bernice worked as a nurse's aide in the Quinn Hospital.
Since 1959 she was employed at the Wall Drug Store, first in the donut factory and later as a cook. During her many years at the Drug Store, she trained several cooks.
Bernice retired in 1987 because of failing health.
Bernice was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, and was chairman of the coffee fund for the March of Dimes and also chairman for the Trail Rides of Wall.
Grateful for having shared her life are her three sons, Don Goodsell of Denver, Colorado, Henry Chapell of Gillette, Wyoming, and Mike Chapell of Rapid City, South Dakota; one daughter, Esther Parks of Wall, South Dakota; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Russell Goodsell of Hill City, South Dakota, and Carroll Goodsell of Nemo, South Dakota; four sisters, Virginia Parris of Custer, South Dakota, Marguerite McGinn of Black Hawk, South Dakota, Faye Carmichael of Butte, Montana, and Mrs. Grace (Walter) Fischer of Wall, South Dakota; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry, in 1968; one granddaughter, Angela Marie Chapell; her parents; four brothers, Earl, Leonard, Clarence, and Paul; and two sisters, Beatrice Pierce and Bonnie Brannon.
