Lyle Warren Huntof Midland, South Dakota, died on Sunday, August 17, 1986

Lyle Warren Hunt, the oldest of eight children born to Warren and Elizabeth (Hans) Hunt, was born March 20, 1909, on a farm near Verdel, Nebraska.
After his parents' death in 1923, Lyle came with his uncle, Elmer Hunt, to a farm located in Jones County southeast of Midland, South Dakota. He completed his education there.
Lyle did various jobs in the Midland area, including farm and ranch work, gas station attendant and mechanic, and installing and maintaining windchargers.
He was united in marriage to Ida Fosheim on September 4, 1940, in Butte, Nebraska. They lived all their married years except for a short time in the Philip area.
They owned and operated Hunt's General Merchandise Store in Midland until selling out in 1956. He then did carpentry work, remodeling, and finishing work on a large number of homes in the Midland area and surrounding towns.
Lyle semi-retired in 1971 and becuase of health reasons, moved to the Rivercrest Manor in Pierre in July of 1984.
He attended Trinity Lutheran Church in Midland and was a member of the Midland Town Board, served as mayor, and was a former member of the Midland Volunteer Fire Department.
He was an avid sports fan and played baseball for the Midland community for many years.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Ida, of Midland; ten sons: LeRoy, Jerry, Terry, Keith, and Fred, all of Midland, Ted of Spearfish, South Dakota, Gordon of Philip, South Dakota, Ronald and Jeff of Whittier, California, and Barry Hunt, U.S. Air Force, Luke Airbase, Arizona; eight daughters: Mrs. Curt (Christine) Niedan, Mrs. Jim (Janice) Tolton, Lisa and Michelle Hunt, all of Midland, Mrs. Marvin (Teresa) Palmer, of Murdo, South Dakota, Mrs. Roger (Peggy) Johnson of Pierre, South Dakota, Penny Trammell of Quanah, Texas, and Mrs. Pete (Shari) Estep of Crested Butte, Colorado; 13 grandchildren; three brothers, Lawrence Hunt of Philip, South Dakota, Everett Hunt of Murdo, South Dakota, and Harold Hunt of Kadoka, South Dakota; two sisters, Helen Anderson of Ideal, South Dakota, and Abbie Graham of Walnut, Iowa; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Russell Hunt, and one sister, Margaret Hunt in infancy.
