Harold A. Hemmingsonof Kadoka, South Dakota, died on Saturday, February 8, 1986

Harold A. Hemmingson, son of Henry and Hattie (Mathre) Hemmingson, was born February 3, 1908, on a farm near Lily, South Dakota. He grew up and attended Lily High School.
He worked as a farm laborer in eastern South Dakota for several years before moving to the Philip area where he worked on the Kurth Ranch southeast of Philip.
He was united in marriage to Betty Kurth on June 24, 1931, at Philip, South Dakota.
They farmed for two years near Lily before moving back to the Kurth Ranch near Philip. On March 1, 1934, they moved into Kadoka where they owned and operated the Hemmingson Auto Service until his death.
Betty preceded him in death on August 22, 1979.
Harold was a member of the Concordia Lutheran Church where he served on the Church Council for several years in various capacities and also served on the Lutheran Layman League. He was the mayor of Kadoka, served on the city council for several years, was a member of the South Dakota Auto Dealers Association, and served on the Kadoka Memorial Hospital Board for several years.
Grateful for having shared his life are his five daughters, Mrs. Stanley (Ardyce) Pearson of Kansas City, Missouri, Mrs. Jack (Janyce) Bedessem of Brandson, South Dakota, Mrs. Ralph (Anita) Geisler of Omaha, Nebraska, Mrs. George (Haroldine) Abi Fadel of Brummana, Lebanon, and Mrs. Jerry (Dorothy) Ireland of Belvidere, South Dakota; 14 grandchildren; one brother, Orvil Hemmingson of Rapid City, South Dakota; three sisters, Mrs. Clarence (Elsie) Jensen of Bristol, South Dakota, Mrs. Arline Kjosa of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Mrs. Bill (Dorothy) Coleman of Ventura, California; and a host of other relatives and friends.
In addition to his wife, Betty, Harold was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Elbert Hemmingson.
