Arlene Sampson

of Interior, South Dakota, died on Friday, March 30, 1984
at the Rapid City Regional Hospital in Rapid City at the age of 69

Arlene Joy was born February 16, 1915, at Midland, South Dakota, to Charles and Anna Joy.  

She grew up in Midland and graduated from high school in Pierre.  Arlene attended Northern Normal for one year, and then went to Black Hills State College in Spearfish, where she graduated.  She taught at grade schools at Interior, Allen, White River, and north of Philip.

Arlene was united in marriage to Stanley Sampson on May 26, 1937, at Rapid City.  Following their marriage, they ranched 1 1/2 miles west of Interior.

Arlene was a member of the Presbyterian Church, where she served on the church board.

Survivors include her husband, Stanley, of Interior; two sons, Wayne and Jerry, both of Interior; two brothers, Pete Joy of Murdo, and Edgar Joy of California; one sister, Winifred Beirman, of Midland; five grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Archie and Harold, and one sister, Carol.

A memorial has been established.
